These are the first Phobians to enter Comrades. Come on the rest of you!

Kushie has been a Phobian forever and has run almost every race in South Africa, including ultra-long ones like the Washie.
Here Kushie is seen running with George and Anita at the Tough One in 1989.

“After the resounding success of 2010, with the second largest field in the history of the race, after the millennium race in 2000, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) have agreed to look at alternatives to their current system, whereby athletes who enter the race but do not qualify are able to be replaced by a substitute athlete from the same club who has qualified but not registered for the race.” Visit http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=6&click_id=197&art_id=nw20100826161247359C112814#more to read the full story.
Many runners were forced to enter before they were sure they would be able to qualify. Some entered just because they could or because they wanted to see their names on the list for “old times sake”. These took places which more dedicated or more capable runners could have filled. If the CMA does not implement a substitution system they will risk alienating those who support them every year at the race.
Runners, walkers alike enjoyed a great race. The 5 km fun run was huge, with 400 participants.

On 14 August Phobians hosted a very successful race. There was an excellent turnout and runners and walkers were treated to a well-organised morning. The competition was stiff and winners received well-earned gold medals and prize money.

It has been suggested by Phobian ladies that our male members get some uniformity when it comes to hair styles and cuts. Here are a few that have been selected.

Phobians enjoyed good food and drinks on a cold Saturday morning after the Irene race, thanks to Lynda and Piet.
