Novices entered Comrades in their thousands and within 27 hours, the cut-off figure of 5000 was reached. With other entries also at the maximum of 15000, those who thought they could enter in January after drawing up a list of New Year resolutions will have to try again in 2011. The sad part though, is that many unlikely finishers have entered, taking valuable places. Should there not be a period in January when these people can withdraw gracefully and give their entries to others who are keen to run?
